Bidding Information: HOW TO PLACE A REGULAR BID To place a regular bid, you need to enter your Customer ID into the ''Enter Bidder ID #'' box and then enter the amount of your bid into the ''Enter Bid'' box and press the Submit Bid Button. Your bid will be processed and if any errors occur you will be shown what they are and what to do. WHAT IS A MAX OR "AUTOMATIC" BID? A max bid or "automatic" bid gives you the opportunity to input the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a particular specimen and let our auction system "automatically" bid for you up to the desired amount you selected whenever someone else bids on "your" specimen. For example, let us say that you input $35 as your max or "automatic" bid. Let us also assume that you have the current bid on a particular specimen that is presently at $25. If the Minimum Bid Increment is $2, and somebody else bids, the new bid registers in the computer as $27. At this point the computer will then automatically "raise" the bid to $29 (using the minimum bid increment). At this point you will again be the current bid holder. This "automatic" or "proxy" bidding will happen each time someone else bids on that particular specimen. This Automatic bidding will continue until either there are no further bids or until someone else exceeds your designated "maximum" bid amount.
HOW TO PLACE A MAX "AUTOMATIC" BID? To place a max or "automatic" bid, input the desired max-bid (in the Input max-bid box) and press the Submit Bid Button. NOTICE: A max bid can only be placed if you also place a current high-bid. If there is no bid on the item a max bid cannot be placed. This is to ensure that there will be fair competition for the specimen. WHEN DOES THE AUCTION CLOSE The on going (active) time information and the closing "data" (information) for each of the auctions is located on Page 1 of each of the auctions in a box a little above the Thumbnail specimen images. There is also an Auction-Clock link that will display the exact closing time of the specific on going auction. On our Regular-Auction the auction closing time is somewhat variable because of the (10 minute) rule where auction will close 10 minute after last bid is received.
HOW TO DELETE/REVOKE A BID PLACED In our auction rules it states, "By bidding on a specimen you are accepting your responsibility and ability to purchase the item at the price stated by your bid." Now we do realize that people make mistakes and under certain circumstances (determined on a case by case basis) will we delete or revoke a bid MANUALLY. We will consider deleting a bid at the most only a few times for a particular bidder (unless circumstances are highly unusual). Please do not exercise this frequently and again, this is only exercised under certain circumstances and is considered on a case-by-case basis.
